4 Natural ways to relax and unwind at the end of the day, DIY’s included

Need something to help you unwind or simply chill out?  If so, this post will help; I have two natural solutions for you, in the form of essential oil blends, that smell amazing and really help create a relaxing environment. Within this post, you’ll also find 4 easy and inexpensive ways to use them from diffusing to creating your own natural room, pillow or body spray.

The first essential oil blend I’ll be discussing NOW’s Peace and Harmony Oil Blend. This is my personal favorite scent to diffuse out of all the oils out there and I use it daily. The Peace and Harmony scent is very pleasant; it’s perfect to diffuse in the office, while your children are studying or simply when you want to chill out (don’t we all?!?!) When my mom comes to visit and this is diffusing, she refers to this as my “gift shop’ smell; it’s a bit earthy with some slight minty/ floral notes.

How I use it? I most frequently use oils in an essential oil diffuser. If you aren’t familiar with them,  a diffuser is basically a small, humidifier like device that you simply fill with water & add a few drops of oil to it. I use this method the most because it’s the longest lasting option; your room will be filled with this scent leaving your home smelling great. There are a variety of diffusers available out there with a few different features; if you’re a local follower I’d advise going to my friends at Good Life Nutritrion Company who carry all the NOW brand oils and a variety of essential oil accessories from diffusers to perfume roller balls to the spray bottles used for my recipes below.

Here are a few really easy ways to incorporate this oil into your routine
(like 2 step easy!)

Relaxing Room & Pillow Spray (aka my “PEACE OUT” spray)
**It only costs about 20 cents to refill this, so spray the stress away all you want!

  • Add 2-3 drops of oil to the bottle, fill the rest with water and shake before each use. It’s literally that easy & your room and pillows will smell amazing with such little effort. This is also a nice touch if you have guests staying with you, they’ll think they’re staying at a B&B (which if you’re with me, I hope you like pancakes ;)

Natural Body Spray Recipe
This also costs less than 20 cents to refill!

  • Add 10-15 drops of essential oil to bottle, add 1.5 tablespoons of witch hazel and finish with 1/3 cup of water. Shake well & start spraying away.

Peace and Harmony Oil Cost? $12.99 for 1fl oz (Essential oils are highly concentrated, so just a few drops go a LONG way. A bottle this size will last you a long time, even if you use it daily like myself)

Where to buy? If you’re local, I’d suggest visiting Good Life Nutrition company in Marion. For my followers out of the area, you can visit the NOW Foods website to find the nearest retailer or you can find them on Amazon, which are Prime Eligible.

Next, I’m sharing another NOW Essential Oil that is great for relaxation and sleep appropriately called “Peaceful Sleep”.  I use this oil in my diffusers in my living room and bedrooms to start winding my family down before bedtime. Though I typically use this one in an essential oil diffuser, this would be a great oil for the room and pillow spray.

Many people use Lavender oil to help them fall asleep, which I LOVE the smell of, but this is a nice alternative oil , especially if you become “nose blind” by using the same ones. This blend has more citrus and floral notes in it than the Peace and Harmony blend but it’s equally relaxing. Here are the oils used to make this blend: Orange Oil, Tangerine Oil, Lavender Oil, Chamomile Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil, Sandalwood Blend.

Where to buy? Same retailers as listed above for the Peace and Harmony Oil.

Cost: $12.99 for 1oz

The next time you’re looking for a way to relax, try out these essential oil blends. The DIY products I shared are so easy and inexpensive that you can make several of them and they’ll still be far less than buying a similar product from the store (The spray is basically the cost of the glass bottle and tack on less than 20 cents for the oil and witch hazel)

For more information on essential oils, supplements, natural products and healthy living, follow Good Life Nutrition Company on Facebook.  (oh and they make fresh peanut and almond butter there too and its awesome! Plus there’s NO BS…bad stuff that is.)

The oils I shared today were provided by Good Life Nutrition Company but my opinions are all my own; if I love it I’ll tell ya, if I don’t I’ll tell you that too!
