When to ditch your makeup

makeup Recently, I found some makeup I had forgotten all about when cleaning out one of my bags. It got me thinking…how long have I had this & is it bad? I figured I’m not the only one who’s thought this so I’m sharing the cosmetic expiration dates.

Luckily, most of it lasts a year but there are a few items that need to be tossed after a few months. And hey, if you do have to toss some of it, it’s just an excuse to get some fab cosmetics right? (like I really need a reason to do that ;)

Check out the list:

  • Mascara– Every 3 Months (pst if it’s just a little dry & not old, then try my trick to revive it.Click HERE for that post)
  • Eyeshadow-18 months
  • Blush-18 Months
  • Foundation-1 year
  • Powder-18 months
  • Lipstick-18 months
  • Liquid Eyeliner– 6 months
  • Blush-18 months
  • Powder-18 months
  • Concealer-1 year

If you’re nosey like me & want to know WHY you should toss them, Allure has a great post on that. For example: Ditch the mascara because taking the wand in & out=bacteria collected along the way which can lead to eye infections.

Wow I never thought about this! I feel like I go through make-up quicker then I would need to throw them away luckily, but now I will have to throw away all that make-up I only wore once and held on to. Thanks for the post!

It’s so hard for me to throw away makeup (mascara though, not an issue). I don’t go through it fast enough and it can be expensive! I really need to take stock and go through mine. Thanks for the reminder!

I need a little print out of this to leave in my bathroom!
